Hey Sugars,
Whereas Bridget communicated with us through her journal, Becky in the Shopaholics did it through letters to her creditors. While the Gossip Girl and Anna from Why Girls are Weird chat through online blogs, Rocki St. Claire's Hit Reply is written completely in emails and instant messages. Now this year's, Every Boys Got One adds PDAs to the list.
Chick Lit authors are using unique and creative methods to get their stories across. One in particular we have found to have mastered the technique is Elisabeth Robinson's The True and Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters. Written entirely in letters from Olivia Hunt to her family, boyfriend, best friend and business associates. We dive into a world that is compelling, heart-warming, exciting, and sad. The first letter is a pre-empted suicide note where Olivia, a Hollywood producer going through tough times, finds out her sister Maddie, has just been diagnosed with Leukemia. As Maddie undergoes therapy, Olivia tries to hold her family together while struggling to pull together her career. Her boyfriend has left her, whom she still loves, as she battles to be strong on all fronts. How can Olivia be at different places at the same time? Reading about the making of her movie seems so real while the story of her and her family are very touching. Find out what the critics are saying about The True and Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters and you won't have to judge a book simply by its cover!
