Hey Sugars,
Looking for something new in your Chick Lit reading? How about blending it with a dash of murder
and a side of mystery? A kind of Bridget Jones meets Nancy Drew.
Kyra Davis has excellently written a fresh,
high-paced novel combining Who-Dun-It and romance in her first novel, Sex, Murder, and a Double Latte. San Francisco
resident, Sophie Katz, part Egyptian-part Israeli with
coloring of a well-brewed latte, has a successful career as a
murder/mystery novelist. She feels on top of the world after one of
her books becomes optioned to be made into a Hollywood film. But when
the producer is found dead in his bathtub, eery events starts to unfold. Although the police immediately claim it as a suicide,
Sophie feels his death mimics a murder scene of his recent movie.
A series of crank calls following an anonymous creepy letter stating, "You reap what you sow" has Sophie walking on egg shells. Is she paranoid or
is life imitating art, specifically the events from her
own novels?
Ms. Davis deftly pulls you into Sophie's world filled with wide cast
of unique and colorful friends. From the gay best friend hairdresser,
porn store owner, vampire wanna-be, drug dealers to
Hollywood big-wigs, the fun never stops.
At times light hearted, the story alternates with
hair-standing-on-end drama. Ms. Davis will
keep you guessing until the very end. A perfect blend of murder and lattes.
